Every first Sunday of the month the ReMax lot on Leeland turns into Generation X/Early Millennial’s whole vibe. Started by vintage shop Resale Folds and BgirlCity to bring the city of Houston the only vintage market that is purely dedicated to the nostalgia of hip-hop fashion and culture.
The Hip-Hop Vintage Market started last summer with a just a few vendors and has grown to well over 30 vendors as it hits it’s first year.
When you park on Leeland you are bombarded with vibrant colors of the many murals surrounding the lot. This is honestly the perfect backdrop for a vintage hip-hop market. The vendors have everything from acid wash t-shirts and mom jeans, to windbreakers and VHS’s
There are also usually a couple of of food trucks in the lot as well. This past visit there was a gourmet grilled cheese truck that was super good. I didn’t order but I ate off of both of my friends plates.
While you walk around the market taking in the fashions there are DJ’s spinning the best of old hip hop hits and break dancers getting it in on a makeshift wood stage. Occasionally there are other performers for the community as well.
Going to the Hip Hop Vintage Market is almost an institution in our house hold to go to the market to just be in the company of other hip-hop lovers and be part of the growth of the event.
The next Hip Hop Vintage market is June 2nd from 12pm-5pm. It is definitely worth attending.
Love and Light,
